AutoCAD LT - Cartoon 3D Shapes
This is my get-go time always to utilise any Autocad product and information technology is not fifty-fifty a full version. I take been using Floorplan3D to develope crude drawings of rooms on our campus. Since that program is limited in its abilities I was forced to do some of the more than detailed piece of work using Microsoft Powerpoint. That too has its limits and so my boss has asked me to use Autocad to develope proper dimensioned drawings of the project, but the simply product available was Autocad LT.
I am laying out the floorplans and elevations of equipment rooms that show devices mounted on walls, conduits projecting from the floor, etc. I just spent 2 hours in Autocad LT trying to construct a uncomplicated 2" bore cylinder to stand for ane of the conduits. I gave upward. The online help talks well-nigh UCS coordinates and wireframe modeling. I have no idea what UCS means. I know what wireframe modeling is just have no idea how to construct information technology.
Should I give up now, or is in that location some simple concept that I need to grasp that will brand all of this fall into place? I am not an idiot and have spent many years drawing rooms and devices in 2d and 3D without any problem. Merely getting a simple shape together in Autocad seems to be a chore.
Can I choose a cylinder object from a menu and and then but enter the dimensions? Can this too exist done for other shapes similar boxes and rectangles? These were the expert points virtually Floorplan3D. I could merely choose an object like a wall and drag it onto the cartoon.

Are y'all trying to practice this in 3D? If and then, in that location are no 3D capabilities in AutoCAD LT, (about all it can do is "open" and "expect" at 3D models) you would take to motion to at least the full version if you are wanting to create 3D objects.

Well, I guess I practise not need to do information technology in 3D. Simply that still leaves me with how to get started.
Attached is a zipped Microsoft Powerpoint document that shows what I am attempting to reach.

Re: AutoCAD LT - Drawing 3D Shapes
All I see are bunch of lines, arcs, and circles, and those are all like shooting fish in a barrel enough. Every bit far every bit the thicker lines, just alter the lineweight.
~scratches head~
Then, the question was what - how to depict the stuff? Line command, arc control, circle command, probably some polylines for the circuiting...I'd get-go with the "help" carte du jour.
I beverage java for your protection.

i'chiliad not sure nigh the autocad LT non being able to depict in 3d, but yous tin get decent 3d wireframe objects. if y'all desire a cylinder or cube (bones things) its quite uncomplicated to do.
all you gotta practise is add thickness to the object. then lets say your looking from the height view and you have a 2" conduit coming from the ground. then you describe a circle with two" diameter. then in the properties you change the thickness to whatsoever length the conduit runs.
the difficult thing is positioning some of the obects and dealing with complicated shapes.its not too bad though still. i use information technology quite a fleck and its not the greatest simply its peachy. y'all can alter the views and all that, default is top view, and even cheque out the drawing in iso view.
hope this helps you out.

Re: AutoCAD LT - Drawing 3D Shapes
You need to rotate your UCS, to do this blazon in UCS (enter), information technology will ask yous which axis you'd like to rotate it on (default is Y), use the "rule of thumb" imagine yourself gripping the UCS icon (thing in the lesser left hand role of the screen) with your manus, around an centrality and twisting information technology towards yourself to go the cursor onto the correct drawing aeroplane. After y'all select an centrality it volition ask you how many degree you'd similar to rotate it (default is 90). mess with it until you lot go the cursor onto the correct drawing plane, then draw your circumvolve, then draw some other circle at the other "end" of where your piping will be, connect the quadrants of the circle to one another with lines, and in that location y'all have it. A cylinder @ 2" inches or whatever dimension you'd like information technology to be. any other questions you can e-post me at tony9502@hotmail.com
Hope that made sense, and i promise you lot don't demand any ninety's or tee'south, without truthful 3d your SOL.

Re: AutoCAD LT - Drawing 3D Shapes
oh... another matter you can practise to depict in 3d is with isometric snap (DRAW menu, DRAFT SETTINGS, snap blazon & style). now this isnt in actual 3d, and then changing view ports wont show the different faces.
But this is an piece of cake way to draw in 3d, i judge it just depends on how expert you are at visualizing in 3d. use the F5 push button to alter the plane (x-y, y-z, 10-z) your cursor will draw in. and if yous wanna draw a circumvolve type in ELLIPSE, ISOCIRCLE, and so selection the centre point, and then type the bore or radius.hope this helps y'all out.
